Live Training Transformation (LT2) Team Selected Federal Team of the Year

On 10 May 2019, select invited employees and teams from Federal government agencies across Central Florida and the I-4 corridor gathered for an awards luncheon ceremony in Wildwood, Florida. This annual event was hosted by the Federal Executive Association of Central Florida. Individuals and teams were selected as the winners in various categories amongst the respective invited finalists. In the category of Stewardship, the Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training, and Instrumentation's Project Manager Training Devices' Live Training Transformation (LT2) team was announced as the Team of the Year. The LT2 product line provides state-of-the-art training systems using a consolidated product line management acquisition strategy, common architectural framework, services, standards, processes, and other shared assets that focus on the training domain requirements. In addition, the LT2 product line provides training capabilities to the integrated training environment to maximize shared assets, reduce fielding time, minimize programmatic costs, and enhance training benefits. To date, this acquisition approach has resulted in over $850 million in total system life cycle cost avoidance.

The portal provides visibility into shared assets, products, standards and governance processes. Meeting notices are being distributed for users to attend a training session on using the S2T Portal. PM TRADE garners Army Lean Six Sigma Excellence Awards Program (LEAP) Process Improvement Excellence Award for its Live Training Transformation Program

The Department of the Army recently announced that PM TRADE's Live Training Transformation (LT2) program has been chosen for the Lean Six Sigma Excellence Awards Program (LEAP) Process Improvement Excellence Award. Last year the LT2 product line generated a significant return-on-investment within PM TRADE's live training systems acquisition portfolio, generating over $23 million in cost avoidance in post deployment software support. Since program inception in 2001, the LT2 product line has generated nearly $800 million in cost avoidance across multiple fielded products at over 200 locations worldwide.

Squad Overmatch Study-Tactical Combat Casualty Care (SOvM-TC3)

Squad Overmatch Study-Tactical Combat Casualty Care (SOvM-TC3) completed a month long study on 6 NOV at Fort Benning with four Army and three Marine squads with an emphasis on TC3, along with an improved curriculum. Each squad had three days of intensive training in the classroom, on Army Games for Training and in Live MOUT exercises. The Instruction, Practice and Application curriculum and scenarios were designed by a team of distinguished SME across multiple domains. SOvM-TC3 was such a success that Combined Arms Center CG directed requirements documents be developed in 180 days that span the entire array of SOvM-TC3 functional realism and training curriculum.

PM TRADE seeking industry feedback on ICDs

PM TRADE has published DRAFT copies of two ICDs on the portal for industry comment. The draft “LT2 Issue Tracker ICD” defines a programmatic (Web Service) interface that allows external issue trackers to integrate with the LT2 Portal Issue Tracker to bidirectionally share and synchronize issue tracking information in near real time. The draft “LT2 Lifecycle ICD” defines a programmatic (Web Service) interface that allows external Life Cycle Management Systems (LCMSs) to register to bidirectionally share and synchronize life cycle support data, such as as-fielded Technical Data Package (TDP) and bill-of-material (BOM) information, with the LT2 LCMS.

The ICDs are located in the Draft Standards Document Repository files folder of the “PM TRADE Interface Standards - Industry Working Group” collaboration area on the portal. If you are not already a member of the “PM TRADE Interface Standards - Industry Working Group” collaboration area, go to the main collaboration page and click on “Request Membership”; the standards collaboration area will be the first one in the list.

PM TRADE is requesting industry comments be provided on these ICDs by submitting a new issue to the LT2 Standards Help Desk issue tracker.

DOD Announces Value Engineering Achievement Award Winners - PM TRADE's James Todd Top Army Individual

The Department of Defense presented the FY 2014 Department of Defense Value Engineering Achievement Awards today in a ceremony at the Pentagon.

Value engineering is a Department of Defense effort to continually analyze defense organizations, facilities, and processes to determine "best value," or the best relationship between worth and cost consistent with required performance, quality, and safety of essential functions and products. Value engineering contributes to the department's overall "Better Buying Power" initiative, which seeks to streamline operations, improve quality, and reduce or avoid costs.

The Value Engineering Achievement Awards Program provides an incentive for government and defense industry partners to improve the value of weapon systems and programs by promoting innovation and creativity. During FY 2014, the department executed in-house value engineering proposals and accepted contractor-initiated value engineering change proposals producing a combined actual savings and cost avoidance of $5.5 billion.

The Value Engineering Achievement Awards acknowledge outstanding achievement and encourage additional projects to improve government and contractor productivity. The department selected award winners in five categories: program/project, individual, team, organization, and special.

New LT2 Product Line Distribution Agreement

PM TRADE has released a new version of the 'LT2 Product Line Distribution Agreement'. Changes includes the definition language for LT2 assets, updated policies, and the requirement for a Corporate/Organization executive official (i.e., vice president, legal counsel, contracting officer, etc.) to include their contact information and signature in addition to the requesting user's contact information. The new distribution agreement goes into effect immediately. There will be forthcoming guidance regarding the deprecation of current agreements in place with LT2 stakeholders and the requirement to submit the new agreement.
